About

An ICU nurse who saw the gap.

The Florence Ecosystem was founded on a simple observation: the people closest to patient care — nurses — were being excluded from the governance of the AI systems being deployed in their units.

The Founder

Robert Elvin Domondon

Robert is an ICU nurse with 22 years of critical care experience at UBC/Sutter Health in San Francisco. He holds credentials as a CCRN, CSC, and CMC. He is a licensed physician (MD, Philippines) and hospital administrator. He completed graduate work at Ateneo de Manila University.

For over two decades, Robert has worked the night shift in one of the most demanding clinical environments in healthcare. He has seen firsthand how technology decisions made in boardrooms affect the nurses at the bedside — and the patients in the beds.

When AI began entering healthcare, Robert saw the gap: the people with the deepest clinical judgment — nurses — had no seat at the governance table. AI systems were being deployed in clinical environments without the input of the professionals who would be responsible for their consequences.

The Florence Ecosystem is his answer. Not a protest, but an architecture. A governed institutional system that embeds nursing intelligence at the center of how AI is built, deployed, and sustained in healthcare.

The Mission

Embed nursing intelligence at the center of AI governance.

Embed nursing intelligence — the holistic judgment, moral accountability, and systems coordination that nurses bring — at the center of how AI is governed, orchestrated, deployed, and sustained in healthcare, globally and permanently.

Core Values

What we stand for.

01

Patient Safety Above All

Every decision passes through the patient safety filter.

02

Verification as Sacred Duty

AI outputs are hypotheses, not facts.

03

Human Primacy

Human-in-the-loop is the core, not the backup.

04

Stewardship Over Sovereignty

We steward nursing intelligence; we do not own it.

05

Courage with Compassion

Tell the truth even when uncomfortable.

The Organizations

Five institutions. One ecosystem.

NIN

The Professional Community

Nurse Intelligence Network

Where nurses connect, learn, mentor, and build. NIN converts distributed attention into practitioner intelligence. The community layer that makes everything else possible.

NAIO

The Governance Institution

AI Integration & Orchestration Institute

Defines standards, certification, and governance authority. Issues NAIO-C, NAIO-A, and NAIO-F credentials. The institutional trust layer that regulated health systems require.

EDENA

The Ethical Intelligence Layer

Ethical Decision Engine for Nurse-led AI

Converts governance principles into executable risk classification. Green, Yellow, Red tiers. The runtime ethics engine that ensures AI actions are classified before execution.

Florence-X

The Control Plane

Orchestration Infrastructure

The conductor that coordinates all agents, tools, memory, and human stewards. Routes work, enforces risk tiers, manages memory zones, and logs everything.

NINE²

The Venture Engine

Niche Incubator for Nurse Entrepreneurs

The factory for producing governed nurse-AI ventures across every clinical niche. 10 phases, 42 steps, 8 clinical tracks. From thesis to portfolio management.

"AI must be subservient to care, not the other way around. The nurse is not the end user. The nurse is the governance layer."

The Florence Ecosystem exists because nursing intelligence — the holistic judgment that comes from 22 years at the bedside, from the 3 AM ventilator alarm, from the family conversation that changes everything — cannot be replicated by any model. It can only be honored, protected, and placed at the center of the systems that serve patients.
